Project Overview
Uma Maheshwari Residence is a duplex penthouse designed with a contemporary luxury
interior language that emphasizes spatial openness, architectural expression, and refined
detailing. Located in Bengaluru, this 2,500 sq. ft. home was envisioned as an elegant urban
retreat that balances visual drama with everyday functionality.
A key objective of the project was to optimize spatial planning by reimagining underutilized
areas, resulting in a significantly larger and more fluid living space.
Spatial Planning & Architectural Highlights
One of the defining features of the residence is its double-height living space, which
enhances openness and establishes strong visual connectivity between levels. This vertical
volume not only amplifies natural light but also elevates the overall sense of luxury within the
home.
At the heart of the living area stands a sculptural helical staircase, designed as a central
architectural focal element. Its fluid form introduces movement and visual interest, serving
both as a functional connector and a striking design statement.
An important achievement of this project was the intelligent utilization of unused passage
space. By reconfiguring the layout, additional usable area was created, transforming the plan
to accommodate a remarkably large hall. This strategic intervention significantly enhanced
the home’s spatial experience without altering the built-up footprint.
Material Palette & Interior Language
Milky white vitrified tile flooring runs consistently across levels, unifying the spaces while
enhancing brightness and visual continuity. Neutral tones dominate the interiors, allowing
architectural elements and custom features to stand out gracefully.
Warm wood ceiling panels are introduced selectively to add richness and visual depth,
balancing the light-toned flooring and walls. This contrast brings warmth and sophistication
to the contemporary aesthetic.
Functional Spaces & Custom Elements
The modular kitchen is planned with an efficient layout, clean finishes, and optimized
workflow, supporting modern living needs. Custom-designed TV units and wall features are
seamlessly integrated into the interiors, maintaining clean lines and reducing visual clutter.
Bedrooms are designed with distinct themes tailored to individual preferences, while
maintaining overall design harmony across the residence.
Lighting & Outdoor Connection
A layered lighting strategy—combining cove, spot, and accent lighting—enhances ambience
and highlights architectural details throughout the home. Balcony spaces are developed as
green pockets, offering areas for relaxation, natural light, and visual relief within the urban
setting.
